'Transformers 2' bags LG cell phone promo
April 2, 2009 – LG Mobile Phones has a big tie-in to Paramount’s summer release Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which includes having director Michael Bay sign posters today during an in-person appearance at a LG booth at a wireless trade show.
What is Transformers 2 will open June 24 and is a sequel to a $150 million production in 2007 that grossed a whopping $319 million domestically. LeeAnne Stables, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Partnerships at Paramount Pictures, helped arrange the tie-in.
States an LG press announcement, “Prior to the film’s June 24 release, LG Mobile Phones will reveal advertising, retail, online and other consumer electronics initiatives utilizing the film as a key theme for the marketing campaign. The LG limited edition Transformers Versa phone, along with the company's premium line of handsets, offers the latest in mobile technology, allowing people to change their mobile life using one device. Many of these LG Mobile Phone products were used during the making of the film.”
The tie-in gives LG movie promotional horsepower verses Sony Ericsson Mobile with close ties to Sony Pictures/Columbia.
