Feb. 24, 2014—Here’s an unusual tie-in film-industry promotion—a manufacturer of quartz counter tops Caesarstone is tied to the Oscars by supplying fixtures in a green room where celebrities warm up.
Also, spirits giant Diageo will pour its bands including Sterling Vineyard wines, Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky, CIROC Ultra-Premium Vodka, and Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur at the Oscars.
A Caesarstone press release says Oscar winner Susan Sarandon “co-curated” the green room, whose lead

“As an official sponsor, Caesarstone quartz countertops will stun attendees throughout the exclusive backstage lounge,” enthuses a press release. “Greenroom visitors will notice the Caesarstone bartop in Jet Black, tabletop in Shitake, and Buffet Tabletop in Belgian Moon… A ‘Twitter Cam’ will be set up, enabling Greenroom guests to take photos of themselves with other presenters, winners, and performers and post them to Twitter with the hashtag #ArchDigestGreenroom.”
Meanwhile, the Diageo press release promises, “As they pass from the Red Carpet and enter the Dolby Theater, a selection of four Sterling Vineyards wines and a handcrafted Johnnie Walker cocktail will welcome guests of the Oscars. Following the Awards telecast, party-goers at the Governors Ball will be dazzled by The Glamour Shot, a chic concoction featuring new Baileys Vanilla Cinnamon mixed with Goldschlager Cinnamon Schnapps and served in a glass rimmed with edible flakes of real gold."
Most of the sponsorship heat Oscar night is for pricey TV commercials on the ABC Television telecast, but these two event sponsors get traction with a smaller industry audience at low cost.
To wrap this up, I have no idea what Shitake is and am afraid to ask. Also, Oscar nominations are scheduled to be announced tomorrow.
