St. Louis Film Critic Adds Up Promos
April 25, 2008 -- St. Louis Post-Dispatch film critic Joe Williams does a nifty job running down tie-in promotions with movies. These include Speed Racer with Hot Wheel die cast toys and Esurance insurance; Iron Man look alike contests with local comic book stores; Sex and the City with Houlihan’s restaurant Skyy vodka and Mercedes Benz; and finally Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with M&M, Burger King, Dr. Pepper and Expedia.
The article notes, “Right now, countless movie geeks are scouring websites including Cinematical, First Showing, Coming Soon and the venerable Ain't It Cool News for pointers to this year's coolest campaigns. A site called Super Hero Hype is exclusively devoted to the kind of movies that are promoted at the annual Comic-Con gatherings. At last week's Comic-Con in New York, it was big news that Robert Downey Jr.'s character from Iron Man would be making a cameo in The Incredible Hulk.
