Satellite Awards Kick Off Oscar Dash

    Dec. 30, 2007 -- The International Press Academy announced nominees for its Satellite Award to be presented Dec. 16.
    Among the 17 nominees in its three best film categories are Hairspray and Knocked Up for best Comedy or Musical, 3:10 To Yuma and No Country For Old Men for best Drama Film, and Beowulf and The Simpsons Movie for best Animated or Mixed Media.
    The complete list of 17 top motion picture award nominees are below. IPA – an association founded in 1996 by journalists covering Hollywood for both domestic and foreign media -- was created due to restrictive membership of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., which confers the better-known Golden Globe. Aiming to front-run both the Oscars and Golden Globes, the Satellite  Awards announces early, designating its winners in mid December.

    The nominees in the top three top film categories are:
