Rooting Against War Film Flops?

Note from author Robert Marich. The article below oddly reflects a rooting interest hoping for a rebound for poorly-performing films critical of the U.S. in the Iraq/Aghanistan conflicts. This website and other media chronicled the genre's debacle late last year (see “Iraq War Films Flop With War Pro & Con Audiences Dec. 3, 2007; “Hollywood Unleashes Geo Political Films” Sept. 14; and, in particular, “Hollywood Miscalculates With Politico Films” Oct 26).
New York Times April 2, 2008 – Stop-Loss joins a string of Iraq war films failed, and a New York Times article asks “how could a Hollywood studio possibily entice audiences into seeing the next one?” Next up is The Lucky Ones from Lionsgate. The article by David M. Halbringer notes, “The word “Iraq” isn’t uttered in The Lucky Ones.”
