Regal Joins Upscale Theater Trend

Note from author Robert Marich. Movie theater operators find growth prospects in tapping upscale audiences with premium services, such as Regal’s PR below about two of its theaters adding booze and expanded food to its concessions. National Amusement operates upscale theaters called Cinema De Lux theaters in six states. The unique name brands these separately from NA’s normal multiplexes. Finally, Australian multinational Village Roadshow will build some super-premium U.S. theaters with ticket prices at $35, following a concept that worked in Australia (see “Super Luxury Theaters” March 26 elsewhere in this directory).
