Olympics bump next year's Oscars

   March 25, 2009 – Next year’s Academy Awards will take place two weeks later on the calendar to avoid overlapping with the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences today announced the Oscars schedule, which sets March 7, 2010, as the date for the main ceremonies on ABC Television. This year, the date was Feb. 22.
   The Academy Awards ceremony continues to be one of the most viewed TV programs and grosses about $80 million.

March 25, 2009 -- Beverly Hills, CA — The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, Academy President Sid Ganis announced today.

The ceremony will again take place at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.
