Burger King rolls another 'Twilight' promo
June 22, 2010—Burger King will support The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with in-store promotion and giveaways, clearly aiming at the teenage demographic with the third installment of the vampire teen saga that opens in cinemas Friday. Summit Entertainment releases the movie and BK had a tie in promotion with the prior Twilight.
Burger King giveaways include water bottles with faces of the movie’s stars, which is good fit for teens that embrace such beverage containers (see photo below).
A BK press release describes a tie-in movie contest saying: “By selecting one of two scratch-off areas, one representing Edward and the other Jacob, fans have a chance at winning a wide range of prizes, such as $100,000, a 2011 Volvo XC60, a Vespa LX 50 4V, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Ultimate Experience, movie tickets for a year courtesy of Fandango1, a selection of products from the BK® menu and much more.”
The press release continues: “Knowing these fans have an insatiable appetite for all things Twilight Saga, we’ve put together a comprehensive promotion that makes each of our restaurants a one-stop shop for all things The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” said Patty Treviño, director, cultural marketing, Burger King Corp. “We’re bringing back some guest favorites from our The Twilight Saga: New Moon promotion and fans will interact in all new ways through the in-restaurant game, online extension, exclusive merchandise and more.”
The press release strains a bit in saying BK patrons must decide between two sizes of BK Value Meals “in the spirit of the movie in which Bella is forced to decide between Edward and Jacob.” Hmmm. Well, press releases say things like that, don’t they?
