Awards Consultant Hits Oscar Jackpot

   March 3, 2016-The Hollywood Reporter profiles awards marketer Lisa Taback who hit the jackpot as consultant to Open Roads Films for Spotlight (Best Picture Oscar winner), and distributor A24 for Room (actress Brie Larson won the Oscar for Best Actress) and Amy (Oscar for Best Documentary).
   Taback worked for Oscar-winning Svengali Harvey Weinstein on 1998’s Shakespeare in Love, 2002’s Chicago, 2010’s The King's
Best Picture Oscar winner Spotlight emphasized intrepid pursuing journalists over a sensational sex scandal in marketing imaging

Speech and 2011’s The Artist. She parted ways with Weinstein and then established her current home at West Hollywood-based consulting firm LTLA.
   Says Scott Feinberg in his Hollywood Reporter story, she kept the journalists and survivors portrayed in (Spotlight) on the circuit with its stars from the Toronto International Film Festival through Oscar night, which gave the film a stamp of authenticity and credibility that few others possessed; she also kept its large ensemble of stars engaged and invested in the campaign for six months, whereas competitors' stars were largely MIA. And she facilitated pseudo-events, like a screening of the film for the Vatican Commission investigating sexual abuse and an LA Press Club award for the real journalists, which emphasized the notion that the film was making a real-world impact.”
