Jan 31, 2009 -- Theater circuit giant AMC Entertainment will program all five Best Picture Oscar nominees on the same screen at 97 locations in 42 U.S. and Canadian metropolitan areas on Feb. 21, in a special promotion on the day before the Academy Awards (see press release below). This is the third year for the special booking.
An AMC spokeswoman said that one screen at each theater presents the five films and, if demand is high, a second screen can be added. Moviegoers pay $30 for a ticket to all five screenings, or $25 for members of AMC’s MovieWatcher loyal program.
The five nominees, which will screen back-to-back, are Milk, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Slumdog Millionaire and Frost/Nixon.
